"made me recall all the vileness of the 80s....."

Surely you don't mean the huge wads of ?50's, the perky property market, the gorgeous, feminine, suspender wearing, non-chavy girls with ample tits and asses, the abundance of Mercs, Beemers, Porches and Ferraris, the champagne parties and those newfangled mobile phones that only cool dudes could afford to run?... Ah yes, I remember it well...(sigh).

I remember the strikes, riots, nights without electricity, lack of decent jobs/wages -even though I was still at school-, lack of educational opportunities for the working class, illegality of porn, skin heads taking heroin under canal bridges, IRA bombings at it's peak, Spanish holidays that cost a fortune, where every shop/pub/ stank of fags, where your clothes held enough static to power a light bulb, hairstyles without conditioner, and the shittiest of times for fashion & music this century, and of course, the lovely, kind hearted and generous PM at the time: Miss Thatcher.

Shove the 80's up your arse.

Oh, I forgot about having to board up your windows every Saturday afternoon -if you lived near a footy stadium, and the lack of English participation in European football.

Bus fares were pretty cheap though............

Thatcher ruled throughout the 80's, miners strikes & blackouts did happen during the 80's too, as did IRA bombings every few months or so.

I'm not getting mixed up with the 70's as I wasn't even born until 76. Mybe the early 70's were worse than the 80's, but I'd rather live now than go back & live/work in the 80's, thats for sure!

Maybe if you were upper/middle class, life was probably 'spiffing' back then, but for the working class, it was horrible.

wasn't there a follow up programme where the men concerned were complaining that it was a stitch up because they thought it was just a documentary about fishing, rather than the extreme views they came out with.
