Who's 'YOUR' favourite Brit of all time?

This forum is usually full to the rafters of anti Brit threads. Whether it's Police fuckups, lying politicians, chavvy kids, authoritarian governments, a crappy football team, racism, guardian readers etc etc etc. I just thought we'd have a thread on any Brits -past or present- you look up to with pride.
Is it Newton? We all travel in cars, on buses & planes. We've all seen man walk on the moon & have digital tv from satellites in space. Most of the physics involved is based on Newtons theories, so where would the world be without him?
Is it Darwin? How many species did he name? There's 'Natural Selection' for one. Contradicting the churches views on mankinds evolution, and in doing so, influenced lots of other biologists thinking to this very day. Would biologists have discovered DNA and cured many bacterial & viral disease so quickly without Darwins works & theories? Will his natural selection theory be used to save our planet in the future from mass extinctions because of mans actions?
Or is it Shakespeare? Someone I overlooked in my youth, yet every play, tv series and film that put fear, happiness, and sadness within you, all used Shakespearian techniques in some form or other. He also invented over 600 words, helping English be the most expressive language in the world....ever.
There's my three candidates, what about yours?
