I'm probably a bit biased , but i am english , and like everybody else i'd like to see us do well . I'm not really sure about Mclaren more a go between , a number 2 not up to being the main man , but yeah either of the other 2 . I'd like to see Martin O'neill , i know he's not english but at least they'd play well . Just another point i know they have a lot of old blokes at the FA , and it's all jobs for the boys like most work environments , but what the fuck does Trevor Brooking know ? never wanted to be a manager did fuck all as a player didn't he win a fa cup ? and managed west ham for about 3 games ? so obviously he should carry some weight with the dead heads . what the fuck has curbishley done? as for mclaren hes a pile of shit as well. Big Phil has been there seen it done it, he has far better credentials that curbs the berk, fat sam or that ginger flute mclaren!

If those three are the best that england has to offer, we are truly in deep shit.

shame......such a shame.... i think i kind of lost myself again.....

Got to agree with perihelion here.

I'm all for having an english manager provided that they are up to doing the job but the 3 you mention haven't got the experience and haven't proved that they are capable of doing it.

Therefore we have to go with a foreigner although it should have been Guus Hiddink.

The whole saga though has been a farce and typical of the FA.

Guys club football and international football are two different kettles of fish. A club manager has the finances of the board to buy and sell players where international mangers have to make do with the players they have.

In short international football managers need to have more tactical amptidute and more luck.

As for Scolari, he won the World cup for Brazil, playin average football against average opposition. He beat England twice, both controversialy and could'nt even motivate his players to defeat Greece in the European cup final.

You do'nt really need experiance to be England manager. Dean the donkey could do the England job.

I don't go with the opinion that we need a Englishman because were English so we need an Englishman and don't agree with the view that we have to go foreign just because they have experience.

We need the best man who can do the job.

After last night I am more inclined to go with Mclaren but doubt it will happen because of his association with the Swede.

You don't need a Manager for the National 1st team games you need a coach with as Joe says tactical amptidute + motivational skills which Mclaren proved he had last night.

Having said that behind the scenes you do need a Manager and it has to be someone with a knowledge of all the players available, their Managers and Coaches and how they play the game and Mclaren ticks that box.

Foreign coaches can see as much football as the English Managers but tapes never show important things like how a player communicates.

The Manager also needs a detailed knowledge of how our game works and the young players coming through.

The number of young English players making it through to the Boro 1st team shows that Mclaren has this as well.

I'm surprised he fell out of the running so suddenly... He'd done a hell of a job wherever he's been. His rise and then subsequent fall at Bradford was a shock- what did he do wrong? Hos work at Wigan sows just what a great motivator and tactical manager he is.

As for all this talk about experience - Yes, experience matters IF YOU USE IT. I know plenty of folk who got bags of experience at doing something, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're any better than someone coming through at grassroots level. Experience is both undervalued and overvalued... time served and positions of responsibilty at the highest levels do not give you the unquestioned right to be considered brilliant.

He has knocked it back. I like him more already. ?4.5m salary isn't worth the loss of a normal life.

The good news is Howard Wilkinson is still in the frame. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
