We've had a chat on a previous thread about the EXCELLENT The Apprentice show. I like Sir Alan as he tells it like it is, BUT............
Considering his wealth and standing in Business and Commerce, I have not seen ANY Amstrad products for a few years.
I know he withdrew them from Dixons, but Argos always carried some of his products........not anymore.
So where does his incoming revenue come from now? Is Amstrad sold on-line to cut overheads?
In 1982, I saved wages for weeks to get my first Hi-fi which was a 3 in 1 Amstrad at ?199.99. It was fucking brilliant as a first hi-fi and blew my dads JVC out of the water....but then again, the old bastard never went above 3 on the volume.....my never went below 7

Please, never use Amstrad and Hifi in the same sentence. I recall Amstrad was bargain basement junk, to put it mildly. Still shit sells, look at McDonalds or Budwesier beer.

It's a sad indictment of our modern society that we hold up as role models those who make millions from selling us crap.

It WAS my first proper hi-fi. I remember how the 'seperates' were designed to look like that, but it was a single unit with deep grooves 'seperating' the cassette/Tuner/amp.
The speakers were great though.
I now have Techniques and my CD player alone cost more than the Amstrad hi-fi.
Since my first post on this, I DID see an Amstrad FAX machine at the charity shop going for a 'reasonable' ?4.00

Made me laugh out loud on the first show of the apprentice (the fruit and veg one) when the girls were explaining the bought the stock at the end of the day, stuff no-one else would buy, and Sugar siad he didn't want anyone in his company selling second rate rubbish! Ithought that was exactly his business model.
