Is 6 Meg enough? For what?

An 8x10 print at good quality (300dpi) needs

(8x300)x(10x300) pixels =7 200 000 or 7.2MP

Images on line need not be more than 72dpi, so

(8x72)x(10x72) pixels = 414 720 or 0.4MP

So the first question is what do you want it for?

John Kelly once said to me, 'when you absolutely positively have to capture that shot.....then you use a Canon.....and when you absolutely positively have to capture your imagination.....you use a Nikon '

Nikon always have and always will play catch up to Canon simple as.

Nikon have lots of dumb shit, that no one uses like switching the shutter to a different button on the camera, and lots more silly things like that.

I have a Canon 350D, which is a treat to use and has produced some great results for me. I didn't take their default cheap lens package though - get yourself a decent lens, whatever you choose.

As the guys said, resolution isn't an issue if you're shooting for the web only, but if you might want to print your photos then 8mp is better than 6.
