any good in London?

Wonderful. My next car will be anything as long as its wrapped round a satnav system.

Never been unfortunate enough to have to visit cockneyland with it though.

Which is the best tho?...i've been trying to buy the TOMTOM one from woolworths all week but they're sold out..

Are you after a portable 'tom tom' type nav or an all in one audio / DVD/ Navi solution?

i started with the tom tom 300 and found it lacking horribly in city centres but now have the garmin i3 series which for me blows the tom tom to pieces and its only ?170. i also tried the navman which was worse then the tom tom

I tell you what the most unlikely Sat Nav is...The Gizmondo. probably the cheapest Sat Nav on the market and just as effective as any other out there. I'm well impressed with it...If you dont know what a Gizmondo is check out I wasnt overly excited about hearing about it but my sister works as a pa on the legal team and got me one...And I'm well impressed at its many uses...mp3 player, movie player, sms, photos, games and other apps and all for about 160 quid...plus it beats the PSP and came out before it too. I'vce been showing trailers to the latest Wrist Action releases on it !happy! Good marketing tool too.

Bought a new Tomtom off ebay last Spring and it is the dogs b---------. Set it up, go for the birds voice unless you like being ordered around by a gruff male voice and away you go. Takes you door to door with no problems, if you miss a turning it immediately works out a new route for you, foolproof. A mate told me that he now as well as removing the unit from his car, takes the cradle off the dash as his brother left the cradle of his tt on the dash and some yob broke his window to see if the unit was in his glove compartment. It wasn't but his wife's xmas present was so he lost that and had a broken window to boot.
If you go for ebay use the usual rules of reading feedback to make sure the seller isn't a chancer, with more cars being fitted with them there should be a few s/h bargains around where people want to sell their mobile units as their new car is already fitted with one.

I have a Dell Axim (Windows Mobile device) with a GPS card and TomTom software. I find that it work better than my friends TomTom only device. However for either to work in the centre of London I have to use an external reciever on the top of the car to get a signal - even then it id flakey. I think that it is the buildings blocking the signal and that it will affect any GPS device.

Portable car to car..something cheap but accurate..TomTom seems to be the best i've read up on but am going to check out Garmin and Gizmondo.
