I watched the repeat of stargate yesterday on sky one after missing however many episodes of this new season have already been aired, and half the cast has changed. There are two people from farscape, one from andromeda and beau bridges. O'neil appeared but only in a guest role and Carter was'nt in it at all. I'm sure I could have only missed a couple of episodes but it feels like a whole series with all the changes. Can anyone shed a little light on this development.
Also, is it just me or is the lead bloke from Atlantis shit.

The main reason for the change is that Richard Dean Anderson is calling it a day for Jack O'Neil. So they've got a new General for SG Command and a new leader for SG-1 to basically fill in his roles.

Stargate without O'neil.....that is'nt a good thing. Still, I'll give the new lot a chance.

Hi.
Carter has moved to Area 51 in a research and development sort of position. The gou'ald are in a complete mess and are not considered a threat. The new baddies are the "ori" which i think is short for originals who seem to be similar to the ancients, may be in the same way the gou'ald were similar to the tok'ra. The ori are gonna be bad i think.
T'ealc is dividing his time between the ja'affa and sg-1 as a new high council is being formed and there is much unrest.
General O'neill has moved up to a desk job ( richard dean anderson wanted more time with his family). Beau Bridges has taken over his seat. Ben browder has taken over leading sg-1 and wants jackson, carter and t'ealc to remain in the unit, Daniel only there as he missed a flight to take him to pastures new. The new series featured a bit about merlin being an ancient and also put the team under Glastonbury tor where they found a device which when activated back at the base transported daniel and vala ( claudia black reprising her one episode role in the last series) to a distant planet and into the bodies of two locals of a race that worshipped the ori. The ori learnt of the existence of earth in this way. Apparently the ancients (good ascendents) hid earth from the ori (bad ascendents) to protect the human race.
I hope this helps a bit.

Carter is coming back in at some point. Watch the opening titles and you can see a newly formed SG1 with Ben Browder heading through the Stargate.
Lexa Doig looks like the full time replacement for Dr Fraser as the character looks to have some form of previous relationship with the new General.
And not forgetting Claudia Black....
Looks like her character Vala is going to be a semi permanent addition to the cast.
