If you think PC is totally useless then state your examples of where its obviously wrong
Its not a disease just Politicians pandering to those that will vote for them
In many ways its all of our own making IMHO
cheers

how deep do you want to look into it
I remember a senior policeman in the 80's saying the phrase 'black bastard' was 'a matter of opinion' that it was a term of abuse
if PC has brought an end to this sort of stuff then i'm all for it
at the other end of the spectrum banning the phrase 'black coffee' is just plain stupid and they can sod off
very few things are as simple to be stated as a disease on society

That's the trouble with PC---it should get rid of the obviously offensive things, but then you get the folk talking about renaming a blackboard, for example. There are some that look for offence where there is none.
The phrase "black sheep" means nothing save that in a flock of predominantly white ovines, one was born black. Therefore it should relate to one person who stands out from the rest. It's been used in such negative ways over the years that it seems to reinforce racial stereotypes, but that's not how it was intended.
As for the right-on, socially aware, jargon-speaking social worker types who want to see malice when none is intended, they can kiss my flabby white ass!

We ca'nt say "paki, blacky, nigger, monkey, woggy, wog, smelly immigrant anymore" that is the usual rubbish some of the twisted folk in anti PC brigade are complaining about.
Common sense and respect is all that is needed. I remember a Tory campaign in the 70s reading "If you want a nigger for your neighbour vote Labour"
A talksport radio presenter was defending this comment last week lol!
Anti PC brigade also twist things around when it comes to thins like the MOBO awards. " Why is it called the Music of Black Origin?? If we had an awards show titled Music of White Origin there would be an uproar." is their usual rhetric.
Common sense thats all, common sense guys.

Political Correctness is a disease that highlights the steep downfall of this country.... people are too concerned with catching each other out with what are merely WORDS, and the whole country is run in a desperate attempt to court the trendy minorities - a massive guilt trip over years of un-pc colonisation no doubt. We'd rather be blown up than risk offending these people - utter madness.

Amen to that! One of the best things about spending a lot of time in Hungary, as I am fortunate to do, is that political correctness doesn't exist there, they don't give a shit about it and by God is it a refreshing break from the Guardian style crap that is so prevalent over here right now.
