The only thing I would add is that if someone knocks at your door
to try to sell you something then just tell them to F*CK OFF.

You are not obliged to talk to them (you did not ask them to call),
nor ask them for their identity, nor look at their brochures.

If I want to buy something I will go look for it, not buy it from a
cold caller at my front door.

Cold Callers should be illegal, as is already the case in some EU countries - Denmark being one. They're all but extinct in the US, but that's out of fear of being shot as an intruder/burglar ... you can't get a better deterrent than that.
