This forum will not be allowed to descend into a shit-stirrers convention for those who would use the abominable events of last thursday to promote their own dubious opinions. To this end, it is important that all forumites are aware of section 3.7.1 of the FAQ. This not negotiable.
Of course, there is a natural tendency for people to try and find some wriggle room in any set of rules - and, if truth be told, it isn't always easy to decide what is permissible and what isn't. The problem is, if someone wriggles enough it ends up creating a hole which others will exploit without compunction. That is not going to happen here. We will not tolerate prejudiced and, frankly, ignorant remarks by anyone, at any time. Let alone at a moment such as this when, given half-a-chance, ignorance can breed and disperse like the fleas on a mangy mutt.
No doubt, there will be the usual howls about censorship and political correctness. Well, that's fine by us because we believe in censorship and we are politically correct! No one has the right to say whatever they want, where ever they want, on the internet any more than they do in 'real' life. According to that sort of logic, we should all be allowed to wander in off the street into somebody's home to do and say as we please - otherwise it's a police state! Utter bollocks!!
So what does this all mean? It means that sometimes, exercising your right to free speech means doing it for yourself! In other words, if you don't like the BGAFD house rules, feel free to set up your own forum where you can do and say as you please and, while you're about it, invite the world and his wife around to put their muddy boots on your nice, clean coffee table. No one is stopping you!
BGAFD is our home and our home has house rules. We call them the FAQ. Please read it and abide by it.
