Just seen Match of the Day.

What a very very poor loser he is. Blamed today on bad refereeing, and the thuggish traits of some of his team on poor reffing.

Newcastle, that great club of cliches. Wor jackie et al. Big club, geordie religion

Shite.

A mediocre team with a manager who can't accept the truth.

Long may Graham stay there if this is all he can do!!!

SID.

Got to agree. Newcastle fans are the most biased in the country. They REALLY think they are a super club, a la Man U, Barca, Milan etc. Fabulous stadium, huge support but in reality a second rate team who have won nowt in my lifetime except the Fairs Cup. Biggest problem is Shearer, he rules the club with the nod from Shepherd, any manager is second after Al the Ego. Even some hard line Toon fans think he wields too much influence. When he looks back at this trophy cabinet at 50 and compares it to lesser players like Gary Neville he will cry his eyes out.

A few medals* at best......won't need a cabinet, can probably pop them in his pocket.

* Blackburn Championship
FA Cup Runners-up with Newcastle
La Tournoi with England in 1997-ish

erm, thats about it, I think

Newcastle are a *big* club, and so should automatically be given at least a UEFA cup spot every year, its only fair. Just as Wolves are a big club, and deserve premiership football because of it, regardless of the stuff they turn out on the pitch.

I wish the FA would sort themselves out and put teams in their rightful place, rather than using competition to decide their rankings.

So, in saying that, you would do away with the fodder in The Premiership that worked hard to get there and replace them with 'names' with 'Big Grounds' like Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City?
As far as I'm concerned, these supposed names from yesteryear should get there on merit and hard work, otherwise you might as well let Blackpool and Burnley in just for the fact of their history and trophies they won in the 50's.
Mind you, if it DID happen, I image Accrington Stanley would be rubbing their hands in anticipation!!

Yes, Merchandise United would automatically be seeded to the champions league final.

Hopefully, you guessed my reply was tongue in cheek, but i'm fed up with hearing about sleeping giants and big clubs, you're in the position you're in because of the football results you get, not because you have a lot of supporters but haven't won anything for 50 years.

I couldn't agree more with Syd The Cynic and Heathray.

Why is it in this country we are constantly told that this club, that club are a huge club. It seems that everytime a club gets a rich chairman and moves to a new stadium they are a massive club, despite the fact they've haven't won anything for a generation if at all. If the likes of Newcastle, Middlesborough, Sunderland etc. etc. are massive clubs then where Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich etc?

"Biggest problem is Shearer, he rules the club with the nod from Shepherd, any manager is second after Al the Ego."

Not to mention the fact that Souness is a manager with a poor, poor, poor record in the first place.

The big club thing is all about marketing pure and simple - in this day and age with the amount of revenue a club need to generate to compete a lot of fans wanna be told there club can sell jerseys from Coventry to Calcutta and back and are known worldwide.
