Freedom of expression is a basic tenet of democracy.
Which party do you think will be more liberal when it comes to censorship?
And who will get your vote

They're all pretty much on a par on the subject. I wouldn't waste my time voting for any of them.

You've got me there. For the first time in my life I have not got a clue who to vote for. I will probably shut my eyes and tick a box on the day. For what good it will do.

IMHO the Tories will restrict things more, Labour will keep the same, and I don't know about the Libs. Perhaps the Greens, who've always supported a written consitution with proper right to expression?

I'm voting Tori, no way I'm voting fo Labour because of the war, pure and simple. The tories have made so so many promises that they're be uproar if they get in and don't come good on them and mr howard will be "accountable" apparently

Well, I'm votring Labour.
Lots of reasons - health, education, law & order etc but also that, when the court decision allowed R18, the Government (Labour) could have brought in new legislation to ban it again and didn't.
Right wing governments in the US and Australia are trying to restrict hardcore porn, a new Tory government here would be no different and, before long, I'd guess someone would move to stop R18. First they would probably tighten up the customs guidance to stop any importing - they would move to tighten up strip and table dance etc laws too.
If you think that's scaremongering, I remember the difference in the early 1980s - David Sullivan was publishing explicit pics in the late 1970s, only to have to get much tamer in the early 1980s. We didn't get back to 1970s strength for the best part of fifteen years.
Don't believe me - and think the Human Rights Act would safeguard porn (like the First Amendment in the US) - think again, Michael Howard has said he will look at repealing the Human Rights Act.
There we go - I will be voting Labour on health, education, the stable economy (remember 1991/2/3 folks) and much else. Porn is a very nice add-on.
Well, you did ask.......

PS Miker - the Tories fully supported the war. More than that, Michael Howard said last week he didn't care about weapons of mass destruction - he would have just backed getting rid of Saddam. Vioting Tory because you hate the war is totally perverse.
As for Tory promises, they make a habit (over decades) of saying one thing to win elections and doing another when they win.
Start with 1955, 1979 and 1992 (more details available if you really want it). Given the Tories would have four years to face down (and get you to forget) any uproar over broken promises, I would not bank on holding them to account before the following election by which time they would give spin a completely new dimension.
A classic example of act in haste, repent at leisure.
And, by the way, I used to be a Tory once!
Be warned.

This would be the war that Howard and his party backed, is it?
If you're voting against the war, then the Lib Dems or Greens, among others, should get your vote. Not that I care how you vote, just so long as you do.

I have absolutely no intention of voting for anyone - they are all a bunch of lying scum bags who say what they think the voters want to hear until they get into power and then do whatever the hell they like and to hell with promises made to voters pre election. There is no difference in any of them regardless of party, colour, creed, country - politicans are liars, anyone who thinks that their vote will actually make one iota of difference is either very naive or just plain stupid.
