Policman Talks Sense Shock

I note in this week's news that top cop, Sir John Stephens, has given the thumbs up to householders defending themselves and their property. He wants a change in the law to allow plucky householders to be able to administer a well deserved kicking to buglers, car thieves, and other associated scumbags.

You don't think he's coming out with it as he's on his way out of the job do you now?
If the fuck had the balls to say this a few years ago, perhaps we'd all be a little happier & the retarded chav fucks wouldn't think going to work entailed Breaking & Entering.

"You don't think he's coming out with it as he's on his way out of the job do you now?"
Yes, a convenient way to put the cat amongst the pigeons, while avoiding any political flak from Labour Back Benchers and the LibDems. Also, he's probably not just made the statement off his own bat, he'll have been chatting with all the interested parties - Blunkett, Blair, Howard, Davies. They know which way the wind is blowing but fear a personal political backlash if they stick their heads above the parapet and raise the prospect of a change in the law themselves. Why chance it when Sir John is in the right place at the right time? This is a safe way of getting the issue out into the public arena.

Isn't a sad refelction on UK life that the subject even has to be debated?
A 'homeowner's charter' or some such policy should be brought into being as soon as possible and publicised as much possible.
Let the scum know that they've got a fight on their hands if they decide to rob innocent householders.
Alas, it's too late for Tony Martin, an innocent victin who should never have gone to prison.

But of course, if he hadn't broken into the house with the sole intention of taking antiques that didn't belong to him then he wouldn't have got shot.
And it wasn't his first offence either.

"but the last time I looked the penalty for being a burgler and a scrote wasn't execution"
and therein lies the problem.
Nah, only kidding.

I say good on Sir John Stephens, when your in the job you can't speak your mind because you would be sacked and threaten your pension, Most Police Officers I have spoken to after a crime always stick up for the person who has had thier house broken into, some even say under thier breath I would have given them a kicking, Most Police officers are on the side of the Ordinary person, and loath people they arrest time and time again only to see them on the streets due to the slack legal system. This Stephens guy was probably saying what he has always felt and what he has always believed, only he has never been able to say it due to the incredibly over sensitive media.
Pass a comment about anyone now even if its the smallest joke or gaffe and your crucifide by the media, no way are you able to speak your mind. Political correctness takes president over commen sense, and due to this any ideas that may help society are wasted.
Police have to deal with these scum bags day in day out, there all the same I know me rights m8t, cant touch me, I know the score, not worried, knowing the complete score and knowing more about the justice system and its failings then the Police do themselves.
Wish we could just stop pussy footing around and get real and get some common sense going about criminals instead of worrying incase we hurt thier feelings.
Cate.
