I was watching that prog on Channel 4 on sun night (about the music hall of fame), and the general consensus was that this beach boys album is one of the best albums of all time.
I downloaded it and listen - is someone havin a laugh - or is it a 'grower'?

it was recorded in 1966 so i spose in a way they are right, when you think it was only 4 track recording and about a year before sgt pepper was released.

It pisses on Sgt Pepper as far as I'M concerned. Brian Wilson was a fucking genius at that time

Forever Changes, anyone? Definitely of its time, but some of it still sounds fresh and innovative today.
Pepper (A Day In The Life, apart) is probably the most over-rated album in history. Much as I like The Beatles, it doesn't belong in a list of their top five albums.

Country Joe is a gap in my musical education, I'm afraid, Steve. Place in a file with Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa marked "must listen to one day."
