Just wanted to canvas opinion on this (IMO) much better than average Michael Mann movie.

Was anybody else rooting for the Cruiser?

Not as good as Heat, but a cracking piece of entertainment.

I've already reviewed this.
Last month I think.

I love the film and am listening to the Paul Oakenfold track from the soundtrack as I type.

I love these types of set in one night films.
After Dark is a perfect example of that.

Cruise is a total dude in this film and should play the bad guy more often.
The ending was a little cockshite but to be expected.
Overall, the tone, scope, lighting & music sets this film off perfectly.
Definately an 8/10 number.

Definitely one of his best performances I would say.

Agreed, the ending is poor. But the first 90 minutes are truly excellent. I love the scene in the jazz club...

Yeah it was a bit John Woo and Oakenfold's backing track "Ready, Steady Go (the Korean mix)" was perfect.
The only problem I had with that scene was that in some places the action was way too slow and he would have got picked off quicker than a lone Palestinian child at an Israeli border checkpoint.

The bit where he off's the two "homies" in the alley was cold and smooth.

Yeah, that bit 'rocks' (as I would say if I had no sense of shame.)

I like Cruise, he has got better with age, I recently watched 'Magnolia' for the second time, and enjoyed it even more, he also has time for people, and although he probably has an ego the size of Texas, it doesn,t show.

Tom Cruise's defining performance is in Jerry Maguire. Collateral is probably his second best film, followed by Magnolia.

I also thought he proved himself in Eyes Wide Shut, though few people have any good things to say about this film, personally I loved it.
