Stupid Aussie asks "What is a Chav ? "

Pardon me for having to ask, but I have been reading of ' Chavs ' quite a bit lately in some posts here. They obviously aren't well liked. Let me guess :- Are they a bit like Jamie Oliver ? Would they be generally in the 18 to 35 age group and immerse themselves in fads and fashion consumer culture and thus are the marketers dream ? Would a Chav be someone who couldn't give a shit about world affairs and be more worried about whether or not their jeans look trendy enough rather than a childrens hospital being sold to developers ? Someone completely shallow who worries endlessly about what some fucking ' lifestyle ' guru says ?

Chavs are the invention of a group of university educated fuckwits who haven?t got the balls to vilify ethnic groups in this PC age, and instead save their loathing for the British underclass, see for further details.

The defence of course is that given their target is the white underclass it is acceptable to stereotype and clich?. Apply the same principle to the afro-Caribbean or Asian community and the joke however starts to fall apart.

Luckily the Oxbridge folk who devote their time to mocking those who will never have the same opportunity in life have a ready defence, after all their targets are ill educated, estate dwelling oiks who are worthy of mockery and nothing else. After all it?s not that offensive is it, given that white folk have always had the power and it?s time to knock them down a peg or two eh?


Sadly their argument falls apart when you take into account that the only time the underclass come near to experiencing power is when the bailiffs start knocking at the door or their boss shouts at them to make up a McFlurry mix.

It is in truth nothing more then upper middle class cuntism, the continuation of the tradition of posh folk having a right old giggle at the proles, as they wallow in filth unable to access the benefits of employment and education.

This the reason why I find it so hysterical that a number of high profile forum folk (Dibble et al) conspire to share the joke with a breed of Guardian reading, university educated cock knockers who they have always claimed to loathe.

Dictionary definition would perhaps be that of "inbread sub-working-class oik of either sex that reproduce and spread disease like vermin. once found almost exclusively in dirty inner-city areas or purpose-built council estates now rapidly spreading to other territories. Becoming harder to spot as they burrow and influence further into society"

I beleive that chavs are my enemy for future liberty reason, discussed in another thread. Perhaps though, not quite as dangerous as the hand-wringing middle-englanders (the sort heard on the Jeremy Vine programme on Radio2) who spend their days begging for our "right-honourable" friends to introduce yet more laws and restrictions in order to "control" that element of "society".

OK, thanks for all the replies. It seems I was way off the mark with my guess. But I now have a vague idea of what is meant by ' Chav '. Perhaps I dont read the right newspapers, but apart from this forum, I'm sure I haven't heard it anywhere else. Funny how 50 years of TV and 6 or 7 years of popular internet haven't homoginised cultural differences like the experts claimed it would.
