It was crap!

If the book got 10/10 then the film barely made it to 1/10. Cage was badly miscast (mind you that's true of most of his films... certainly those were acting is required to make the role he is playing seem believable) and the rest of the cast should be ashamed of their wooden performances too.

I've been to the island twice, read the book more than once but after reading news items during the the film's production and reviews decided that no way was I going to see the film.

The book's plot was changed and made happier for the film.

See page 54 of the current Radio Times where it only gets two stars.

The basic plot, the history of the island in WWII, is true. The detail, like the characters, is fiction.

I haven't seen Nicholas Cage play any character with merit yet

Then again i avoid his films like the plague(any action heroes)
