Sneaking into China

Apparently the Chinese authorities are increasing their border security, not just to prevent people leaving but to stop illegal immigrants.
Can you imagine how aweful your own country must be if you see China as a better destination.

I believe China is the next economic world power.
Look at how many things you buy that are made in China.
And they are not just making cheap things, but designing and
building top technology things as well.
I was at a marketing event for the company 3Com recently, who
make a lot of computer networking equipment.
They have gone into partnership with a Chinese company who
design and build networking hardware, and 3Com are going to
start badging it and selling it.
This is exactly how Japan started.
I tell you what, the future looks brighter for the Chinese than it
does for us here in the UK: dwindling manufacturing jobs, loads
of legal and illegal immigrants, a massive social services bill we
cannot afford, a red tape driven EU that is going to bankrupt us
all, failing infrastructure (railways etc), and a massive debt built
up by Gordon Brown.
In 10 years time many people from the UK mkay be emigrating to
China !.

Because at the moment they can earn in a month here what it takes
them to earn in a year over there.
So they work here for a couple of years, send the money home to
the family in china, and go back to what is a fortune over there.
But if you are already in China, and earning a Chinese salary, but
also paying Chinese prices, then you probably have a fairly good
standard of living.
As the country becomes richer, salaries will rise, and they will
have the same problem Japan had when it became a world
'power', a workforce which costs more money.
Guilbert.

Some chinese might be doing well but I wouldn't want to be reliant on their health system. Do you know that they are currently spending as much on their cars for Communist Party officials as they are on the health service.

Grow up, BC. Just because we question the behaviour of own government doesn't mean we want another---particularly not one that tells you what to think. Among the stand-out images of the 20th century was that student in front of the tank in Tiannanmen Square, risking his life (and we know he was executed shortly afterwards) by moving himself to stop the tank going through. Do you honestly think anyone here appreciates a government that does that to its own people? The criminals in charge of China at that time ought to have been put on trial.
Of course, it's standard operational procedure for the various puppet regimes the US maintained in central and southern America at the same time.
