lol yeh. Im obsessed with recycling everything because we have recyclable wheelie bins now here - 3 in total. Combined with regular trips to the bottle banks/paper banks I still maintain its incredibly important we all play that part even if it is "a hassle" its such a crime to waste perfectly good materials by condemning them to the landfill

Hi Agree with Idol.It is not just the enviormental issues, though they now seem to have been egagerated, that are important, but the recycling of everyday waste as well.
In my block of flats in Germany we recycle everything, bottles, newspapers, plastic . It is a nice feeling to know that even in disposables we still have things of some use.

So what does that article say Bimmercat?
"Yeah, its OK for you to go ahead and use up more and more of the Earth's resources and drive gas-guzzling monsters.....".

I don't read that message.

And hey Mods, if this Yanky can call me a nazi, is it OK if I call him a greedy, pigheaded, selfish bastard?

Mart

Its all conjecture from both sides based on flawed modelling

I'll stick to the facts if its all the same

Big hole in the Ozone layer-fact

10 out of 11 years have been the hottest on record-fact

Whats causing it

Pollution....enviromental destruction...emissions...possibly

Who knows?

The Earth is far to complex to ever fully understand IMHO

Yeh no, I know you didnt mean anything about recycling but I was just thinking everything environmental is connected to each other and I feel everyone should recycle everyting possible - it makes me cringe when i look in a public bin when i walk past - all that paper and card and plastic going to waste. I think in 10-15 years itll be illegal to dump glass etc. But then glass I suppose is less of an issue being made from sand ? Anyone ? Im actually interested now lol....

Paper needs seriously conserving though otherwise we are going to go the way of Easter Island, and thats not muc fun.

PS - Mart why you laying into bimmercat like that for? Sure his cars probably have higher emissions than average but thats not really a reason to be so harsh nor was he saying that its ok to pollute everything. We are all a bit fucked when it comes to fuel emissions

Recycling is a good thing but its a double edged blade

If it were truly successful it would cost thousands of jobs

The recycling of plastic in Germany awhile back fell foul of this
They had a massive stockpile that they couldn't offload from memory and eventually it went to landfill

Unless you get the full recycling process in place which means a buyer for the product then it is a waste of time & money

Anybody here recycle their own execrement?

btw bimmercat is that really what happens to old cars after being crushed? Why cant they be stripped down to their frames, metal and reused as other metal products? Does anyone know why not

The one emission which we haven't covered and is a worse cause of than cars is Livestock-seriously

If they are fed poor quality feed they let out more harmful emissions than you would believe
