WMV Protection

Anyone know how to remove inbuilt protection in a WMV file?
The first time I played the file after downloading it connected to the website I got it from and asked for my username and password and then authenticated it which pisses me off cos it means in the future I may not still be a member and therefore may not be able to access the movies.
Also when I try and merge the different parts of the movies it wont let me because of this protection (Boilsoft cant see the file size, duration etc and wont merge it) - anyone know how to remove the protection?
Is this becoming more common place now? I havent seen it before but havent been a member of any movies sites in a while
Thanks
Jason
