i'm having a problem finding a make of video tape that will record to a decent standard. the only ones that seem to record well are some older scotch tapes i have, but i can't seem to find any new scotch tapes, are they still available? if not which tapes do you find the best?

ive never really noticed quality variations that much because im to focussed on the content. but if u can afford the TDK, Sony ones then theres no reason not to get the best. i use to try and spend 50p per tape when i was selling pirate videos and never had a problem with the cheaper ones

I get mine for ?5 for a pack of 5. They are only TDK and great for once-only recording, BUT playback on 'inferior' VCR's can be a bit 'iffy'

The best quality I have come across for recording are the JVC E180 and E240 tapes, usually about a quid each, if you go to Argos or Index you might be able to pick them up on Sale though.

Those are excellent, but I went to a Poundstretcher and they had Panasonic E240 at ?1 each, they were the best Iv'e used, BUT each time I have gone back......'Sold Out' . The word got around and people brought 'in bulk'

I always buy maxell because i find they give great colour reproduction every time and play well on any VCR.I normally buy a pack of 5 x E-180 from wilkinson for ?3.99 and they always seem to have plenty in stock.I always stick to the well known brands but i won't buy memorex as i have had problems with them many times, particularly with the running speed/slurring.
