ok guys now i kno we have some military guys in our midst along with everyone else im wondering what ur thoughts are on situps - how many did u do at a time? how quick were the effects. how can u work one side more than the other? etc.....or ne other thoughts on the matter appreciated :)

btw - ive just started redoing them regularly at 50 a day (low amount cos i build muscle fast) and the bottom part between hip bone and dick area is hardening up...does it work its way up to the top from there or should there be all over results at the same time

cheers

Theirs an old geezer Tom Hafey(age 71) down under that does

600 sit ups a day....thats on top of 200 push ups and a 8-10 km run...pure madness IMHO...and he also goes for a dip(not a swim) whatever that means

Its all pointless if you don't eat right

As for how you do each portion of your stomach

Different exercises I'd assume...lots of them

Personally I stop when I feel the knot in the stomach
Hate those crunches...might be because of my hernia I had...never the same again

Afterall muscle only turns back into fat once you stop

fantastic Deuce thank you, im gonna check that site but it sounds like what i want :D im actually one of those bastardy ppl - i eat what i like and dont put ne weight on and i build muscle overnight, hence i dont ooverdo the exercises cos i dont want more stretch marks from asking too much too soon....maybe that guys metabolism/genetics are just the reverse of mine and so he needs to do 600...eithr way , its too boring, 50 is makin them harden up rapidly.....its a symmetry problem thats upsetting me - hence my post...thanks

I think I know what you mean....its like spending to much time on your biceps but forgetting the triceps that make up 2/3rds of your upper arm

In the end you look very strange

The best exercise for the all over stomach look is Swimming IMHO

A book I'd recommend is The Mens Health Guide to Peak Conditioning
by Richard Laliberte & Stephen C George 1997 Rodale press Inc. Emmas Pennsylvannia

This site gives you a basic overview of what is in the book

I've collected about 10 fitness & Lifestyle books and this one for mine covers the body completely...muscle by muslce...sport by sport..and refers to age by age...20s,30s,40s,50s.....

deuce, do u kno how to build the shoulder muscles baring in mind i dont go to the gym. everything i do is with barbells, dumbells, situps or chest expander at home...my chests pretty big actually but looks a bit silly cos the "shoulder" muscles arent v.well developed and thus still a bit weedy....any ideas? or ne other workout plans...

Yeah...buy the book I mentioned...lol

9 exercises in all

7 can be done with just the dumbbells

2 require a barbell

It covers three main areas

Mobility of the shoulder joint/rotator cuff
The Trapezius Muscles-requires a barbell
The Deltoids-dumbbells

or try this site

I've always found holding a 1 litre beer stein(full) straight out in front(1 arm at a time-shoulder high) or 1 on each side the side(elbows slightly bent) is quite a good way of exercising the shoulders(the deltoids I believe)
