"Download Accelerator"-tech query

There's a reference to this on the other forum re. downloading movies. I checked the site and, as expected, a review says the free version is full of adware.
Does anyone have experience of using it? I'm on an ADSL connection (128). Will it make a noticeable difference?

Being on a 56k connection I've tried a few of these so called excellerators with no visible sign of extra speed

would be the place to start so you can get an idea of exactly what your current real speed is download & upload

Personally I think theres more speed to be gained from stopping programs already on your computer sending messages behind the scenes
Since I downloaded zone alarm firewall from
my speed has gone from 49333 to 50667-hardly noticeable but an improvement

I'd try posting on the appropriate forum at

Thanks Deuce. I run Zonealarm anyway and its pretty good. Only got buggered once and that was a crafty little sod that changed its name every time it wanted to access the internet so Zonealarm couldn't remember to block it without asking my permission.
I'll try PCPitstop when my brain is a bit more active, I recollect it can be a bit confusing.

No pcpitstop is easy Mart.

Just click the button and wait to see the results
Its the only way to gauge wether the download accelerator is actually doing anything.Plenty of bullshit free programs which are designed for nothing else other than to put spyware on your computer

Fear not Magoo I've never been into entering Male Poms from behind with any type of appendage.

Since when was I a Master of computing.
Just regurgitating what others have said before

Am currently trialing for 30 days as shareware.

No spyware in the trial so it can't be a bad thing

It's not the basic Pitstop I find confusing but the tweaky bits. But I'm too twitchy watching the Wales v Italy game to be able to concentrate tonight.

Twitchy about Italy...surely you jest

They're about to play their 4th game in 14 days and have just come off a bruising encounter 3 days ago with Canada.
Wales have had a weeks rest in between each game

Regardless of the Welsh coach making 10 changes they'll still win as Italy run out of legs in the last 20 minutes

Tweaking what?

PS Will let you know the results Magoo of d/l asap
I've got a couple of 20mb clips to download so I should know straight away
wether its the real deal

I've still yet to finsd a decent free download manager that doesn't tinker with your computer.Real Download was good but the shenanigans behind the scenes resulting in occasional screen freezes were a pain in the ass

Download Accelerators don't speed up your downloads, they just allow you to download multiple files at once, and automate your downloads so you can setup a list of files to download and it will download them all for you.

getright is a good downloader.
