Mayfair Mag

One of the things I like about Mayfair is new girls or P3 types at new levels. However some of the recent examples have just been too tame for Mayfair. I thought Suzi Stars were just too non-revealing. However the set of Delia Rose in the next issue must be the least revealing set Mayfair has ever published. Not even the Uber tame legs squeezed together FF of a Suzi! Jeez!

Rant over!

DaveZ,

Mayfair (and some of the other PRP mags) know that P3 types are popular, are usually nice clean girls, pretty girls, girl nextdoor types, and so they know they will sell mags and also help RT etc. However many of the P3 types, in fact the VAST majority, will not want to model above implied nude. That is just where they see their work in the market place. Some will do art / figure nude and an even smaller subset will do open leg. I think each girl would up their level one notch or possibly two notches for Playboy. Sometimes girls will up their level a notch if they are saving up for a big purchase or holiday, then immediately regret it, and many will climb up the notches for cast iron reassurances on no publication.

However printed media is dying out and ALL models LOVE being published in magazines. Here lies a dilemma. These ladies do not want to get their lady garden out in all its female biological glory BUT they want to be in a glossy mag which they can sign and sell to fans. This has prompted many of them to agree to be fully naked but not show anything other than a neat strip of fur of perhaps an outline slit shape to the orifice. Some of course are happy to spread open - Emma Green, Holly Gibbons, Flick Hill, but the issue they have is when you cross that line all the producers will want it as a matter of course so many will keep the legs closed and just hope that will be enough for the mag to still publish them. They are told that they will only get so many appearances unless they open up a bit more and they will never get a cover unless they open up a bit more. A few have swallowed it. But fundamentally it is down to the editor and he knows what is popular and what sells mags.

I know many Page3 types have turned it down as they wanted a higher fee or they had concerns about accidentally letting a little bit too much appear. Once a photographer has got that image it is hard then to argue that you don't want things published. If they have any doubt they stay away. And all the girls talk to each other too and share experiences.

Look out for a few British Page3 types having shoots for Playboy Plus this year. I know a number who have had successful castings and will be shooting in Europe.

As a very general rule (and there always exceptions) in my experience the nicest and prettiest girls will save that for the bedroom and won't get it out - you saw my commentary on Jodie Gasson this morning. Bless her.

The "glory" days of glamour are long gone if they ever existed.

There is absolutely no incentive for girls to publicly shoot to higher levels, quite the reverse. A few years ago one of the better known models opening her legs meant a four figure fee for her and probably some decent follow on pay days, now they are getting offered buttons in comparison.

Why would they bother when they can make more selling a few self shot videos to the fans?

There are only two reasons for girls shooting higher levels. Money or perceived recognition.

The former only exists now in the private market and there are now very few genuine platforms for the latter.

Kind of you all to respond to my frustrations! The realities are indeed as you described be. My issue is with Mayfair not the girls, if they won?t at least give us a little OL they shouldn?t be prepared to shoot them imho. Maybe expecting Mayfair to be true to their brand in this day and age is a little naive of me!!

I get your frustration Dave, but Mayfair is just the tip of the iceberg. Many brands have been diluted in this way. A recent example is art-lingerie shooting Helen G. Her sets are technically nude, but she might as well of kept the knickers on cos you see nothing more when she takes em off. She was the 1 that tipped the scales in favour of me signing up again, only to be disappointed like that. What's even more infuriating is that Helen has done more revealing stuff elsewhere such as morethannylons.

Iain, make a good point about money, back in the day I knew Ann Markham, she was centre spread for Mayfair Vol 17 Number9 shot by Donald Milne. She was paid ?500.00 for the set. In todays money that is over ?2,500 and that is for one set. It is just the market has changed. Spoke to Bernie Williams a few weeks ago, he was saying one of the names has been shooting for Clips4Sale and in the previous 12 months this was her major earner, as opposed to commercial modelling. It is just the market has evolved, just not the way we would prefer it to eveolve

I'm intrigued as to who the British models are shooting this year for Playboy- is it under wraps or you can give us a heads up?! Cheers ;-)
