Yeah, try stating what the problem is, as clearly and specifically as you can manage. I'm totally in the dark.

Or you could try reading the FAQ at

If both of you stated which ISP you were using it would be a start.

if either of you subscribe to worldonline then your a victim of crass censorship by the isp itself.

they trashed all the binary groups on their server because of complaints about some paedophile groups. no consultation or anything as wimpy as that.

even the graphics software groups which i use have been sabotaged.

so much for a new era of net enhanced liberty. :-(

are you trying to access the pictures through globalnews.it, because i think they have stripped the binaries in that newsgroup for some reason, as they seem just to be carrying text messages.

Many of these problems seem to occur because some ISPs treat alt.fan.telelvisionx as a non-binary group.
On the other hand, you might be using BT which has a lot of messages missing.
However, access free (can't post, but you can read) on:
newscache1.freenet.de

good message retention too, if you want stuff you may have missed.

And when newscache1 is down, there is always newscache2 :-)

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I have been using BT as an ISP for months without problems, but recently changed to their Anytime scheme--which could be why the problem has started. And a big merci for being so patient with a technological illiterate!
