Posters are easy, depends how big you want to go, but almost any digital printer can hook you up, upto A3 you can get photo prints for about ?2 each which are great for signing. Digital printing once you hit A2 your costs rocket again unless you goto Litho printing and then your back in runs of 1,000+.

Calendars on the other hand are bloody expensive until you get into runs of 1,000+, but at this late date in the 2010 calendar year, your going to struggle to compile, prepare, print it and sell it intime.

Whats crazy is you find prices like 10 each for upto 100, of 1 for 1500, and it doesnt make sense, so you may have to order big to get reasonable prices.

Anyway for posters, look for a photo printer upto A3, Digital Printer for upto A2 and Litho Printer for A1-0.

Calendar wise, unless you planning 1,000 minimum print run, I'd give up there.

It takes so much wastage to get the machinery up to speed and everything correct, that short runs are just not cost effective. The newspaper I worked for tried producing leaflets with the new colour machinery they just had installed. It took 18,000 spoils to get 6000 right!

I assumed that it was like screen printing that plates had to be made for each job, and plates are say 30 each per colour per side, so basic cos is 8 x 30 + ink + paper meaning 1 print would be ?250-300 or 1,000 would ?325 kinda thing ?

I leave all my printing to the regular companies I use and let them deal with the problems heh.
