Which is probably one reason why it's closing. Virtually giving stuff away is not normally the route to a healthy, wealthy, business.

I don't think it's so bizarre. If you stand back for a minute and look at the subscription site model - allowing a month's unfettered access to content that would normally cost the punter thousands of pounds, and has cost many more thousands to produce, for 15 quid, seems to me to be more than bizarre. Particularly as there are cretins out there who sign up, download everything in a couple of days, then say they want to cancel as the content is not what they expected, before posting the movies on Rapidshare to be freely disseminated amongst a bunch of chortling nerdy wasters. If they had to pay a realistic fee for each individual movie or scene they wouldn?t be so keen to do it, if they did do it they could be spotted and blacklisted. And if they did mange to download each movie individually at least the vendor would be getting a tidy lump of dosh from them.

Also, selling your content off cheaply simply devalues it. It then has no real value in the mind of the customer - who quickly becomes saited and then loses all interest in purchasing anymore. We only crave that which is beyond, or almost beyond, our grasp. Then once we do get it we value and cherish it. If punters really do want Bluebird content, if it really is as good as the hype would have you believe, they won?t quibble over price, they'll gladly pay it. However, if it?s just more of the ubiquitous, skanky, young chaver being (willingly) abused by chortling, tattooed oafs, there could be trouble ahead. Because almost everyone else is doing that - cheaper.
