Porn & Drugs

With the harrowing events unfolding in Suffolk in mind, and the uniquivical link between prostitution and drugs, I was wondering if anyone had considered the percentage of girls within the porn industry who also have a drug dependancy problem.
In my fairly short time in the industry I was aware of quite an alarming proportion of the actresses that were using drugs. I should think that the film producers would have a better idea of how rife drug dependancy was among the girls.

Why don't people think alcohol is a drug?
I'd like to know how the non-porn/porn statistics drug use stack up.
I see a lot of car crashes - not that many drug overdoses (stupid Eva Lux!).
'I should think that the film producers would have a better idea of how rife drug dependancy was among the girls.'
Why?
Are you trying to say there is a link between drugs and porn/stars?
I wonder if there is a link between fear and the media reports.

I do

So would I
'I should think that the film producers would have a better idea of how rife drug dependancy was among the girls.'
"Why?"
Because some of them get to know them.
"Are you trying to say there is a link between drugs and porn/stars?
I wonder if there is a link between fear and the media reports."
Yes on both counts.

It can be argued that a producer has a duty of care to models and crew they employ, and drug use by one can affect the safe working conditions of the others. It can make people bloody difficult to work with as well. My contracts with the more mainstream jobs I do insist that there is absolutely no drug use during the working day, and that includes alcohol. I've worked on porn shoots with a director so heavily into the waccy baccy, I could hardly get a coherent word out of him by mid afternoon.

Think I must have worked for that director Andy.
One particular job I did was for a company that made quite extreme porn stuff, the director there was giving the girls cocaine as an incentive to do things they wouldn't usually consider.
Being a complete middle aged slut I was happy to do it sober.

'In my fairly short time in the industry I was aware of quite an alarming proportion of the actresses that were using drugs.'
What was that proportion? 50/100? 75/100?
And why is 50/100 an alarming proportion?
Why is your 'fairly short time' of any use? It could be a statistical blip.

I have no idea Joe, who came up with these figures?
"Why is your 'fairly short time' of any use? It could be a statistical blip."
What statistics Joe?

What proportion of drug use did you see?

It makes no difference what proportion I saw Joe, because as you said earlier that would prove nothing.
The only way you would get an accurate picture of any drug issues within the porn industry, compared with say girls working in Tescos is if the people in the industry were honest, and decided to come clean.
Not much chance of that happening.
I can tell you that I worked with about 22 different girls, and 2 didn't use drugs. But like you say this proves nothing.

What it proves is that 20 girls used/are using 'drugs'.
But were/are they addicts?
Are you trying to prove a causal link? Only druggies do porn for the money because of their habit?
