The truth is that all British based adult channels ARE permitted to show hardcore in accordance with the Television Without Frontiers Directive, however Ofcom have not implemented it properly and are maintaining a ban because PIN numbers are not adequate enough protection. Don't believe me? Read the Ofcom annual report published on 21 July 2006.

This decision centred on whether protection mechanisms PIN numbers and so forth provided adequate security to prevent access by children. The Board concluded that, currently, for the strongest sexual material they do not, and therefore recommended to the main Ofcom Board that the restriction should remain. As technology develops, the judgement may change.

Now go to you bank and credit card company and tell them that your PIN number is inadequate to protect against fraud etc.

What new technology is in the pipeline? If OFCOM are so clever why don't they openly suggest a solution. Then it could be implemented.

Genuine question: why do people pay for adult channels instead of using the internet? I'm assuming the people posting on here have access to the internet at home.

It is not in Ofcom's remit to offer a suitable alternative - how convenient for them.

Ofcom has stated that it is willing to look at this issue again if technical or other developments mean that under eighteens can be sufficiently protected in the future. We cannot anticipate what changes might occur, and we have not, and do not, propose to suggest what security might provide sufficient protection. However we are willing to talk to broadcasters about security issues both for the present, and for the future.

So it's down to the adult broadcasters and you can see that happening whilst they still make money off the 'boobcore' they broadcast on FTA and the slightly harder than 18 that Ofcom seem to accept (but which isn't allowed in their 'published' Code) but which the BBFC consider to be R18.

Hmmm well we r adult's & we should have the decision r self's wither we want 2 c hardcore with out the censorship, we r being treat like kids with the censorship maybe the next step is we?ll be told on what time 2 go 2 bed at etc.

I hope in the future not like in 20 years r so from now I mean in the next year r 2 the censorship crap will be abolished!! Like 1 question who needs it? Yeah it?s not 4 kids 2 look at that?s why there?s law?s 4 18?s only & that?s why there?s parental locks on sky etc.

So in a way who r any 1 2 tell us what we can r can not watch? As u c on the new?s people getting killed r they show dead body?s etc, so tell me this what?s worse murder & showing Dead body?s on day time TV r porn that?s locked & only Adults can watch at night?

Why pay for adult channels?

I would guess a popular reason would be the ability to record it to watch at a more convenient time. Okay, you can get software to record streaming video but if your internet connection craps out halfway through, you've lost it. Similarly, most streaming video is in a tiny window. Go full screen and the quality is rubbish.
