Is BGAFD ever going to get a 'proper' forum?

Post by lukeolson »

Are you guys ever going to update this aging forum script? It's impossible to follow the threads in flat view as you have no idea who is replying to who, unless they quote or change the title/subject. Viewing in threaded view takes too long, you can't edit your posts and often when I visit the forum it appears completely empty?

My biggest gripe is when i make a reply, all post become unread and i get lost with old and new posts.

i agree.

most other forums these days are far more advanced. editing posts is a standard feature. it would certainly cut down on the amount of threads traffic which can't be a bad thing.

Don't kiss too much ass!

Simply stating what problems there are with the forum is more like constructive criticism I care to think. After using many other forums on a daily basis, (avforums.com) for example. Comming back to the bgafd board is a much less user friendly experience.

Luke....... Luke.................

Yeah you make a valid point, but in the spectrum of forums, this particular one lies to the half-decent side: you get a view of who is bantering with who, and a sense of structure is retained.

If you look at the main forum for the USA, adultdvdtalk.com, it's a free-for-all!! Random comments fly in on a thread, so you don't know what comment is attributable to another- it's incoherent at times!

So, in conclusion, it could be better, but it's not that bad. [DIPLOMATIC COP-OUT]

Come back from the Dark Side, now. Have a pint at my local- 'The Death Star'. !drink! You know it makes sense.

I can only assume that the people who can actually make sense of a thread, MUST be reading it in threaded view, it's just impossible in flat view. Whereas on other forums, flat view is easy to follow.

Perhaps if the reply title included the name of the poster being replied to, it would be much easier(as in other forums)

Er, well, yes. HOW ELSE would any sensible person view the forum if they want to follow the threads? That's what a threaded view is for!

I have never had any difficulty with this forum - leave well alone.

Er, well....do you realise just how many other forums use flat view as standard? and threads can be followed fine??? look at the subject of this message, even something as simple as this would be helpful.

Threaded views are for news readers, where you have to download messages. I can't say I've ever enjoyed using a threaded view via HTTP
