Not exactly sure what your point is Bemused...so we dont have an abundance of Jenna Jamesons and Sylvia Saints in our midsts but this doesnt mean British porn is in a decline...You guys should do proper research into this and you'll find that Britporn is very much alive and kicking and will continue to do so because it it what it is...British porn...Maybe critics should take a look outside of themselves for the answer to this one..
You'll find a lot of purveyors of britporn dont frequent forums like this and are over awed when meeting someone who gets their clothes off for a living as if they are a celebrity...Hell most of em are still buying Escort and Razzle over Cheri and High Society...Surely that must tell you something...Even if it isnt to your liking....
or to put it another way, a local chinese man in china is going to be more happy buying a video clandestinely from a local seller of home made films featuring chinese housewives...Its what (some or most) people feel comfortable with.

Mostly accept what you're saying apart from one thing. One area of the market does not make up the whole market, we're not all chavs wanting to watch other spotty arsed chavs going at it after a night on the Stella or whatever.
One of my points is that the reason we don't have an abundance of Jamesons etc is that we don't give them a suitable platform to perform on, they are certainly out there. Are you suggesting that we don't breed gorgeous and talented women.....surely not.
A lot of people are grumbling about the standard of Brit porn and surely that must tell you something. There is a large lump of people out there that are not being given what they want and probably go to the USA for it.
Look at what Blissbox sells, it's nearly all USA product that should tell you something. Distribution deals seem to be harder and harder to come by, that should tell you something as well.

bemused, i think you are talking for a small portion of the UK porn buyers, most porn lovers in the UK would rather see the girl next door type doing the business than the glossy US type porn models, You are not likely to bump into a US model on a train or opening your local sex shop or doing their shopping in your local supermarket but if you keep your eyes peeled you never know you just could bump into a Brit Porn Model and some of the girls have told me they get a kick out of being reckonised, in my opinion there are some great producers currently shooting UK porn and some great models, give me Brit Porn every time.

Evolution, not revolution: Readers Wives was a minor adult publishing phenomenon and a UK one. From which I will presume has come the global M.I.L.F. love affair. Or put another way, any woman can be made to look alluring or sexually enticing. Add to that the Video camera and as has been said so often, you can provide a large volume of product to an eager market, very cheaply.
Those who purport to purvey quality products are of course basing comparisons on a lower median that say those who might compare to 70's/80's US and European movies. Of course the production values have lowered, very few have a cogent storyline, why, because the buyers want a jerk off and not much else. And so, like the music radio stations, like BBC2 television producers, the nostalgia for those 'Golden Ages' rests heavily in the minds of many. The solution to which is to go buy all the old movies on DVD. Like the record companies, porn producers are happy to recycle the old stuff, they don't have to pay anyone.
And bemused (sic) all porn seems to me at the moment bereft of idea and humour, it's the province of surgically sculpted women and gymnastically sculpted androgynes with absurdly large dicks.
To see how strong the nostalgia movement is, go here

I don't yearn for 70's and 80's porn just the imagination and production values that used to exist. I really think we are doing our natural talent a great disservice. But hell who am I to tell others what to do.
It would however be interesting to hear the views of some of the performers who visit this forum....are you there??

And whilst on the subject. I was watching late night tv last night and stumbled upon Bravos Double Entry which is about two teams of 4 boys v 4 girls making two pornos. I didn't actually see the start so I assumed it could only be one of two things, A). a bunch of sad amatuers doing it or B). a bunch of 'proper' (whatever that means) tv people trying to do it which is pretty much the same as A). actually. But when I saw Avril Thomas I thought - hang on a minute. Then I saw Steve Hooper and thought wow. Then at the very end I saw Viv Thomas walk on set and thought WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW. Concluding how on earth can such a bunch of idiots be in porn and worse still probably make money out of it. Now that is SAD !! Viv - what on earth are you doing ?
