LONDON - Adult videos and DVDs cannot be sold in Great Britain through the Internet, mail order, or by phone, the High Court ruled today, writes AVN news.
According to a BBC News report, Lord Justice Maurice Kay and Justice Newman said "R18" sexually explicit recordings had to be sold in person in licensed sex shops.
They said the law was designed to stop the material falling into the hands of children.
It was argued at a recent hearing that the law harmed UK mail order firms and benefited overseas sex companies.

Is that the death of the porn industry in the U.K. Maybe we should all just move abroad and order our porn safely on the net. I think most people prefre to buy over the net rather than go into a shop. It's less embarrassing.
That's my 2 cents.

Laws only stop those who are afraid of them. If they are made by fools, they can be broken by anyone with an ounce of sense, without penalty.

You think so? The last few times I've been into Cetnral London sex shops the mix of men and women was pretty even. I've even started to leave my dirty mac as home now.

I prefer to buy on the net from overseas because the prices of R18 DVDs in the sex shops around here are extortionate. Why bother going into town when I have a much wider selection of material at half the price and less from someone like action-dvd.com?

Why do some of you feel dirty buying porn? The difference between being sleazy and totally comfortable about it is in your head. Guilt complexes because you buy porn for whatever reason you buy it for: masturbation material, ogle at with fascination whatever. Really chaps. Do you have a problem with buying toilet paper to wipe your arse?
C'mon guys, you love porn because its escapism, your horny and you love pussy. Wear your badge with pride and get out there and buy those videos! NOW!!!!

well said terrry, the problem maybe that buying porn is still frowned upon by many, a few months ago I was doing a shoot in Brighton and I was to pick the model up from the train station, the only place I could find to stop in my car while I was waiting for her to arrive was opposite the sex shop, as I sat there I couldn't help but notice the people coming and going from the shop and nearly all of them looked nervous/guilty as they entered and left the shop which is a real shame, maybe this is just exclusive to Brighton but why should these people feel this way, possibly because they think they are a lone and that anyone seeing them leave will think they are a perv or something, which as we all know is not the case. I think it is because we are so far behind the times over here where as most of europe they dont give a toss if you buy porn.

The first time I ever went in a porn shop was about 3 years ago. It was the pirate shop on Brewer st. in Soho. I was so nervous that I started really feeling hot in the shop and started sweating. Once I'd made my purchase I simultaneously tried to put the paper bag into my rucksac whilst at the same time leaving the shop and blending into the pedestrians. In my panic I walked straight out into the road and almost got run over !
After a few more visits it became no problems at all.
