What is pornography

Pornography in Ancient Greece was the writing of erotic illustrated books usually by women. Pornographers were respectable as their male aristocratic readership. Although some called then harlots...
Plato wished to banish them from the Republic. Can anyone define what pornography is? Pornograhy has never been an offence mentioned in the English law and having been to prison a few times during my career for making erotic films I would like to know if anyone can possible tell me.

According to The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English (2003 edition)
Pornography, n. 1. The explicit description or exhibition of sexual activity in literature, films, etc intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings. 2. Literature etc characterised by this.

I believe the etymology of the word, from the Greek, is " the writings of prostitutes". I'm not sure if that helps much though!

And a prostitute is someone who sells their personal services....like an accountant, solicitor etc.

Porn is like the force. You can feel it everywhere around you.. Everytime you go to the newsagents. On the internet. It surrounds us. It binds us...The porn is strong amongst us.

Phonography has a measurement, It what me and Remmy done while working with Strand and then with Moser, Its what made all that stuff so great. Its also what made the original PRIVATE stuff so good porn can be measured and if all those producers stick to the formula of the measurement then porn would be great. As for it being ilegal or an offence it must be, anything good fun is an offence.
