Probably very late to be adding to this thread but Funky's advice is good... except that only vids certified from Aug 16 2000 onwards have been passed at the new standard - R18 vids from before that date are (with a couple of exceptions) nit proper hardcore.
BTW, it's not a change in the law, it's a change in the BBFC's guidelines, but I'm just being pedantic now :-)

Change in the law???

I remember hearing a couple of months back that the government were going to change the law so that 'harder' (my description) films could be sold from licienced sex shops. Does anyone know if this will happen? And will the films be proper hardcore or just a bit harder?
And what are R18 films? I remember being naive enough to buy a video from a sex shop in Soho a few years ago with any shots below the waist down edited out...Yeah, I know NOW!!!

The law changed earlier this year.Yes, you can now buy Hardcore videos certificated R18 in UK, but only in licensed sex shops. If you want to know what is acceptable (more or less anything within reason!) and what is a available. Check out the British Board of Film Classification website at: HTTP:\www.bbfc.co.uk for the new guidelines. If you want to know what's been passed so far, you can search by certificate and date range, and basically get a list of legal UK porn films
