Hi Everyone,

I am not trying to start a huge panic but I believe that this issue is VERY important so therefore I'm posting it. It has been RUMOURED that the indigo clinc have had a positive HIV come up from someone in the industry. This IF true is obviously bad news and I am sorry to hear it.

Can anyone confirm these rumours as I heard them from a very reliable source???

Unlike the US the UK will not publish names as it is against patient confidentiality and although I hear they have told the people that are involved what about people down the line???????

I hope this is just a Rumour but if not what is going to happen????

Kim

Hi

There is a rumour and let me stress it is only a rumour at present that somebody has tested positive at Indigo We only heard of this some ten minutes ago and have tried to contact Indigo but they are shut until Monday, at present there is absolutely no proof that it is someone in the industry we just dont know and wont until Mon.

Until then anybody that is worried suggest you refrain from working until we have more info or wear protection just in case.

As soon as we have more info we will let everyone know but it is very unlikely to be until Monday

If it turns out to be someone in the business, Indigo will be unable to name them, due to confidentiality. Which creates rather a large problem for everybody!
Anybody got any ideas, while we await Indigo to re-open?

If it is true, I believe this will happen somehow. Maybe Indigo itself can't do that, but, the person in question probably will, one way or the other. Putting myself hypothetically in that unfortunately position for a second, I personally would like to know from whom I would have got the HIV in the first place.

Erm correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this pretty much why we set up BAIHA??? So that if it is someone in the industry all relevant parties concerned could be informed???

Is the above simply not saying that patient confidentiality means that despite the obvious improved safety measures...a positive confirmed case will still cause the same utter confusion and panic as before with potential other risks being no more traceable than before?

Even more worrying if it is in the industry is how soon this is after the US cases and how soon we forget and go back to relative busines as usual!

P.S. as mike is a very reliable source and thsi is therefore very worryingly potentially true...shouldn't James and Marino also be apologising to whoever Kimberely is for jumping down her throat on this one?
