American porno is max hardcore eh?
What's so interesting about it?

'Martin Amis reports from the high-risk, increasingly violent world of the pornography industry'

What if the title was
'Martin Amis reports from the highly sensual and increasingly erotic world of the pornography industry'
would it have been a story?
I can just feel the hint of erotic ecstasy he hasn't got ....

So what's your point Joe, bearing in mind that the report was written 3 yrs ago are you trying to state that porn in the US in the last few years hasn't shown more pseudo violence against women and that Martin Amis didn't hit the nail in the head about the route American porn was heading.

Very interesting indeed.

"More than this, porno, it seems, is a parody of love. It therefore addresses itself to love's opposites, which are hate and death".

I think there are those two tendencies in all porn - love and hate - woman loving and woman hating.

I think he makes some good points and some less so good. For me the violence and soullessness of a lot of this misogynistic porn are just as eloquently summed up in the pyramids of Iraqi prisoners of war we have seen recently - there is a sickness that is based in fear being expressed in these films and equally in these barbaric acts of sexual sadism enacted on Iraqi's.

Mind you the features can be just as vacuous and sterile imho - all that glitters is not gold (especially in Hollywood).

Though I'd give much for an evening with Temptress - Oh lucky man!

I agree, the behaviour in American porn is linked to their arrogant behaviour in Iraq. The humiliation and domination of others.
