Hi

I've just read that Spice Platinum is going to be encrypted in Viaccess2 in January, do you know a specific date as I was going to purchase an Irdeto subscription today but will hold off for the Viacess version if it's due for launch in the next month or so, thanks in advance.

Just had confirmation from Spice that they will be transmitting in Viaccess from the 2nd week in January which is good news to those with euro Satellite receivers.

From Cardmania's site:

"Spice Platinum to launch in Viaccess 2
Cardmania are pleased to announce the Viaccess 2 launch of Europe's hottest adult channel Spice Platinum. The 24 hour channel will begin broadcasts using Viaccess 2, and its current Irdeto 2 format in January 2004. Smartcards will be available at the same cost as the Irdeto 2 service. Demand of a Viaccess 2 service is expected to be high, as most satellite users have Viaccess 2 compatible equipment in comparison to Irdeto 2. The move to Viaccess 2 will put Spice Platinum on an even playing field with competing hardcore adult channels: Ultra Blue, Sex-View, Sex-View Plus, SCT and Don't Panic TV, which all dual encrypt in both Viaccess 2 and Irdeto 2. Spice Platinum is expected to lead subscription up-take next year with its exclusive line-up of hardcore British programming. "

"24 hour channel"!? Is the Irdeto service now 24 hours or just evenings/nights? Is the evening/night block of programmes just repeated through the day?

Six hours of programming repeated four times during a 24-hour period commencing at 9 pm British time each evening.
