In accordance with predictions from our Grand Unified Field Theory, if the thread reaches 1000 posts it will undergo spontaneous gravitational collapse, taking the rest of the Cosmos with it and forming a Singularity, leading to the creation of a new Universe in which there is no Income Tax, herring over 12 feet long, and S56 will never have been born.

We're not trying to have a purpose, as there can be no teleology in a truly random Cosmos. But you'd have to ask Woodgnome for a definitive ruling on scientific projects......
