Given the legal jargon in your explanation if I could hazard a guess...Is that you Paul?
I gotta say if people are not happy with your site for technical problems you shouldnt even respond to them here. You should get them to go to customer support.
Its not really cool to divulge your figures. In a way you were asking for it like a matador at a bull fight.
Besides who actually discloses actual figures as to members on their site. It sounds like you are trying to convince us. Thats really asking for unwanted attention, especially since you guys are so high profile and not even you, but if certain undesirables caught on the car and apartment offer that could spell trouble for your staff and performers. There are some right nutters on here I've even had to deal with outside of here.
In many ways, defending youself on every issue makes you come off like you are your own fan. Even if you feel you are zealously protectig your interests.
Over at
www.beerandbollocks com they seem to be a lot more vicious than this lot with regards to your site...Notice its not an attack on your product. Big difference.
If I was in your position I would maintain radio silence.
Surely these guys are not just having a pop at you unnecessarily. I would just correct the problems that need correcting...But then shouldnt that have been dealt with prior to your launch date?

Hiwatt is posting, as declared, on behalf of BB. PC is having input, from halfway around the world. We think it's perfectly cool to state our member numbers at launch. After all, magazines are required by law to state their circulation figures. It's important that criticisms are placed in context: if 27,000 say you are drunk - lie down. If a dozen say it - easy to respond. Quite right though: not had a single negative on the Content from anywhere. And the U.S. figures are already looking good.

Couple of thoughts strictly from technical aspects.
27000 downloads in two days is a total dog poop. Period. The term "bluebirdfilms" has only 210 hits in Google, half of them nothing to do with this company (apparently there's a filmmaker in Vienna with the same name, and another one in Santa Monica, CA).
Another interesting search points out that 0 (zero) links pointing to BB's website. Even if we accept that this number is not quite accurate (read about it if you're interested in search engines), a good guide compared to other sites' inbound links. BGAFD has 150, Evil Angel 4400, BBC's website 447,000.
Now, the best conversion ratios today are 1:500 (subscriptions:unique visitors), from very good, targeted, optimized traffic (what BB obviously doesn't have with 0 inbound links). From general traffic, conversions are averaging around 1:3000, in certain cases (such as more expensive products than the market average) can be 1:5000.
That means the site had a minimum of 13.5 MILLION (27,000*500) unique users on it's first two days, out of thin air and a mailing list with a reported 48K subscribers (which is more like a 10K or so). With general traffic this amount of sales would need 80-160 million uniques. FYI: BBC has some 10M a day worldwide.

Or maybe we simply have a bank of members signed up before we went live acquired through online but non-affiliate direct marketing.

Well - there's all you experts and quickthinkers out there. See if you can work out how we acquired a multi-thousand adult user database without affiiliates or paid advertising. Maybe apart from knowing how to make - as seems to be admitted by all - top quality adult films, we also have some knowedge of marketing ?
