MODELS : PLEASE READ THIS WARNING, it's IMPORTANT

Firstly, it goes without saying that I've every sympathy with the model who's the subject of this thread, and I'm very glad the matter is being dealt with in an appropriate way. No-one should be allowed to get away with this.

That said, an interesting point about chaperones is made above. A glamour photo shoot I organised a year ago was, well, not ruined exactly, but 'adversely affected' because one girl's 'chaperone' boyfriend insisted on coming into the shoot, looking miserable and moaning throughout and generally putting her off.

There are threads in this forum and elsewhere advertising for models for shoots which specifically say: 'no chaperones'. I've no doubt they're genuine and beyond reproach. But I wonder whether people generally feel that sort of restriction is appropriate, in the light of this thread as a whole?

If a model feels happier with a chaperone then fine, but as was recently posted on here by a well known model, her friend/partner will be on a shoot but discrete, reading a book in the next room, or even on the other end of the phone in the pub round the corner. Certainly not cramping anyone's style by being on top of everybody on set.

If the concern is that the shoot might be ruined, specify in your correspondence that an attending chaperone would be required to remain outside of the shooting area during the shoot. Problem solved.

I'd be as suspicious of a model who wants her chaperone to watch the whole thing as I would be of a photographer who insists that models should come alone.

Surely its also in the interests of the photographer that a third person is there?
If the model and the photographer are alone and she accuses him falsely of something who would be there to speak up for him? Obviously in 90% of the cases its to protect the model but I would say its safest for the photographer aswell

That's a comment that is made in every one of these discussions. The retort is that if the model brings someone along, if she then decides to falsely accuse the photographer of something then the other person would probably back her up, not defend the photographer.

Then it gets into a matter of whether the photographer should bring someone else along as well, and lo and behold ZERO models have an issue with it, because models, unlike that minority of photographers, are generally 100% fine with the photographer having someone with them. Why do some photographers insist on the model being alone with them whereas the vast majority of models don't give a toss whether there are two, three, five or ten people in the studio? I don't know. What do you think?

So do i take that to mean that most models woulnt have a problem, if when booked for a photoshoot, wouldnt mind if the tog had invited 9 pals along to sit on the sofa, drink beer, and watch a 'live sex show'???

Is that an honest question or do you want me to explain the difference between a photo shoot and a live sex show?

Obviously. Models go to photo shoots to model, not to put on a strip show. There are perfectly good strippers for that kind of thing.
