Thing I thought ( IIRC ) interesting , that was never pointed about '1984', was the early statement by the party goon (forget his name) that it didn't matter what the proles thought. Didn't that piss anyone off??

> What's using the metric system got to do with PC??

Because everything the BBC do is part of the PC pro-EU agenda. That's why they always give distances on the news in km, even though we use miles in this country. Think about it, our road signs are in miles, but the BBC prefer to use km. Bastards.

I'm split on this one.
Now I can of course use both,I grew up during the changeover.
However I predominantly lived abroad for 10 years, and you only really see metric everywhere you go.
So I use miles, but prefer metres to feet.
On weight, well tons of course, and stones, but use kilos instead of pounds as my first preference.
Are many others out their mixed up between the 2? Still if I was older it could have been much worse...remember the old money? I'm a confirmed decimal man, don't fancy 240 penny counting to te pound!
Nice thread idea Warren, stimulate the forum braincells a bit:)

In fairness, you'd have to have been reading other threads to get the subplot here.

But I wonder what the standard metric supply unit is for fish.
