There are many opinions, and very few facts.
The Awards are a very good Idea that should be taken seriously, unfortunately in my opinion they are presented in the most unprofessional manner possible. I am aware of Redlight and if they decide to spend their money promoting an event they have every right to decide how the nominations and awards are decided. In my opinion the Public (consumer) opinion is as important as sales figures but with that said I am unable to clarify the procedure for voting at the avns... Maybe someone can help me here???
Perhaps if Redlight were to employ someone who had a vague Idea of promoting an event of this nature the whole ceremony would have left a much better taste in all mouths.
In short great idea, but the organisers DO NOT HAVE A CLUE.
With regards to Dave wells not being allowed to join UKAP, I find that absolutely astounding, I note UKAP reasons for this and am still astounded.
I have promoted many events and never have I heard of such a farce
?100 for a seat purchased half a chicken breast three potatoes and a carrot, not my words but one of many unhappy guests.
Mr Black you have the makings of something great here dont blow it with hit and run profits, spend a little on your customers keep them happy and you will have profitable and successful awards, you can call me anytime and I am happy to give you free advice.
Dont rip off the attendees
Have some meet and greaters
Better all round organistaion
Spend some money on the night with reference to decor/ stage/presenters.
Have a raffle
Provide a decent meal
Open on time.
When you make an offer of free champagne dont let it run out after 15mins.
I invite some positive comments along with this final one.
I take my hat off to Phil Black his end product is below average but the potential, the idea and the balls to actually do it has to be appreciated and perhaps if UKAP, the real Agencies and anyone serious about this business should put their heads together and make the UK Awards an event to be proud of and not viewed as an international joke.
Look forward to all comments

Walpole, read the rest of the thread with regards to Dave Wells. I had a chat with him last night and will be inviting him to the next UKAP meeting.

I can see your point (did i just really type that????).
Seems most awards work the same, it appears that this year was a large improvement on last year, and phil and the gang listened to feedback (if you look back, I was less than polite myself), and made changes. If the trend continues next year will have more changes and maybe this will be one of them.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

I couldn't agree more.
I've always felt that way about their site.
The reason for this is the 'closed' forums.
It's like the online meeting place of the 'Porn Masons' !wink!
I was once told by a respected member of the Adult Industry, how a certain well known stud was ridiculed on these closed forums about his personal hygiene.
Even though he was quite successful, this limited the amount of work coming in.
Basically, any UKAP member with a grudge could ruin a reputation over night.

Whoa there Newblue you've got it soooo wrong. Its quite easy to slag off something on hearsay. Why dont you come along to the meetings and see for yourself? I can assure you we are anything but a freemasons society. To suggest this is indicating we wield some influential sway over every thing.
I'm not sure who you are talking about but surely that is a reason why things are talked about in confidence and not aired in public? Or would you prefer it discussed on these forums and have the general public guide our business decisions and affairs for us? As far as I know blacklisting is never successful because every producer chooses who they want to work with and is not influenced by someone elses decision....but then your highly informed insider should know that already as I have never witnessed this happening and I've been to all the meetings. Lets face it, everyone talks among themselves so why should producers be excluded? This is precisely the sort of somment that warrants us having our own forum and if you really have a problem with it cme and lay it on our door step. I can assure you wil be given a non hostile answer.
One look around here just reinforces my opinion that producers should have their own forum to keep in touch for all the hijackers, trolls and troublemakers that frequent this forum especially because people want to attack and make it out to be something it is ithout even knowing what goes on.
You 'd be surprised how many producers have the same issues in common with you.

Again not true. All producers have their own agenda and are not governed by anothers choice. Everything is put to a vote and we certainly aint petty enough to vote someone out of the business. I think we have more pressing agendas than that.
Besides not one producer in this whole industry has any power or influence to stop someone from getting work. There are loads of girls I could name that are guilty of no shows yet producers still use them all the time. I believe some are now under contract t various companies.

I challenged a lady called Jodie from BlueBird on that very fact, (hi J). After reading the entry requirements (as posted by RZ), it seems the film doesnt HAVE to be released.
All that is required is a Screen or indeed version of the film is submitted to Red Zone who then decide if its up or not. It doesnt matter if its out for public release or not, since the fans have ZERO say in what wins.
I really couldnt resist answering this one Cenobitez but Phil Black is a member of UKAP even if his company Red Zone Films seem to be wholly in charge of the awards it was agreed from the very start that all films put forward were to be BBFC classified and available to the market otherwise Jay K from Real Punting wouldnt have leaned on me hard to get it out prior to the awards for consideration if this was the case.
It seems the goal posts move whenever it serves someones needs. No what I mean?
