A while back I offered to sort guys out with what they need to get into porn - a decent hardcore portfolio, pretty much at cost. It was low key offer - you needed to find my site and actually read it all....
Loads claimed to want to do it but none ever followed through.
I've been on shoots where new guys have been offered the chance to perform - FOR FREE -, and usually they don't turn up. Or - classic - turn up then run away.
Remember the producers don't just want people who can do it, they want people who are taking it seriously, who will say "yes" when asked to work next week, who will keep their certs up to date and not whinge about ?35 every 3 weeks...
I think ?150-?200 is very fair, considering that what you are really getting is exposure to people to will want to PAY you if you can do it. You'll get that back with your first booking for Gods sake.
If you can perform, you can get 10 bookings. At 250 a pop. So, is ?150 a fair price to pay for ?2500? Maybe I'm missing something that 38 blokes spotted.
Reality check - porn is a business and like all businesses, serious people invest in their business.
rant over.
OEJ - you deserve a medal for the work you do.

Let me answer that one Big John
Ive been in the business some 15 years now and if there is one thing I have learned is that this business thrives on resources which means finding new talent.
Some may not see the whole picture but I do honestly believe I have contributed something positive towards the industry and this event, being one of them.
If you have to go through a hundred people to find at least a few then its worth it.
As I said in an earlier post, many people I have helped up have gone onto greater heights (contract girls, regular working performers etc). Some still around and some have moved on.
How are we to be prepared for the future of any business if you dont take care of the things that help make that business flourish? If no one found nay new talent and kept shooting the same ones over and over a gain the business would stagnante and the consumer will get very bored...(I can almost hear Officer Dibbles opinion on this already LOL)
I help because I can and I actually do enjoy it too. Its different from what I normally do and keeps me invigorated and inspired with what I normally do as well.
Just last week I shot a music video for no money but you will see that this sort of thing pays dividends in the mid to long term and keeps my creative muscles flexed.
I can tell you I'm not profiting a penny out of this event. I am doing this because the demand was there for it.

Thanks Big John.
Unfortunately when you sign up to do something like porn you have to be thick skinned to hecklers and time wasters and just remain focussed on the more positive elements.

Hi
I went to a UKAP audition in October 2006 I was the only one out of the at the audition , that actually got wood and did the buisiness .
But I have only ever got one porn job for my troubles . It really annoys me when I hear all this crap about travelling the world shagging beautifull women.
So being able to walk the walk as well as talk the talk is no guarantee is this business .

No. Because the last thing I want after getting this all together is the hassle of chasing money on the day and after.
NO WAY!
This business has taught me well on that.

Graham:
I have no knowledge of the 2006 auditions and therfore do not know who you are so do not take my observation personally. Its just an overview.
A positive attitude always bodes well as a bad one makes you difficult to work with.
Are you an angry person per chance Graham? I dont know you but I suspect by your frustration this could be the case.
Miserable and angry performers are no fun to work with. especially with the girls and producers are not likely to hire you because of this.
