I expect Salmond to resign on 19 September, the day after he loses the Referendum. He will then become a public speaker, a director of numerous companies he was associated with in office, and he will then start buying numerous mansions for himself. He'll follow the examples of the leaders of New Labour. There will be another attempt at independence, in about 20 or 30 years time, and that Referendum will be lost too.

Standard Life, a bank that has been based in Scotland for over 180 years is looking into the possibility of moving its staff to England and is putting together a contingency plan.

The company says it wants assurances on five issues: the currency; ratification of EU membership within the target date of March 2016; the monetary system; financial regulation and consumer protection; individual taxation, especially around savings and pensions.

I would also point out they made a similar statement in 1997!
