Absolutely Alice, I couldn't agree with you more.
Also as this is in the public domain, if anything good can come from this tragic situation,it maybe that hopefully more people will behave responsibly and by so doing, prevent such happenings. Of course the child shouldn't have been abducted & there are of course criminals/paedophiles all over the place but it is the duty of responsible adults,to do their upmost to prevent their children from becoming their victims.

I'm a parent of two young kids and just cannot believe the crass behaviour of the mother and father in this case - apparently so they could get off and have a meal without the "inconvenience" of children in the restaurant. Me and the missus would NEVER dream of doing something like that!!!
They are certainly paying for their irresponsible actions now. No-one in the media is daring to have a go at them but I'm glad we are here.
That sort of behaviour shows they are incapable of looking after children. It's a basic rule that under a certain age, you do not leave children by themselves!!!

Hi Snowy,
Totally agree with what you've said and I'm maybe being cynical, but I can't help but think that the sympathy these parents have received in the media wouldn't have been the case, if they'd have been perceived as a couple of chavs ( or even worse a chav family on the dole/benefits)instead of the doctors they are.

At the risk of repeating myself, and various others, the parent bashing is being held in reserve while the concern is on finding Madeleine---hopefully safely. Once that happens, various shitstorms will rain down on the parents.
Forgive me if I don't express my feelings just now. I'd rather keep my energy for wishing a positive outcome to the search for a wee girl who has done nothing wrong.

Yes Caractacus, couldn't agree more!! And I have to disagree with you quite strongly Naomi, you honestly think there would be a newspaper or a reporter out there that would show disrespect to a family that had lost their child just because they were on the dole or a couple of chavs! They would be crucified by other newspapers etc for showing no sympathy!
Newspapers are supposed to be impartial, I know most are not, but when a child is involved the focus is on the child, finding the child etc. From past experience of reading press releases on missing children it is the child that is the focus, not the parents, at least until the child is found - then they tend to dig into the parents abilities/life etc.
I see all of your points about a discussion board, so do offer my apologies because I do not wish to be part of a witch hunt against the parents at this time.
Just had a lovely afternoon with my four year old, so sorry if sounding a little off!!

Hi Shopgirl,
You don't sound off, obviously we disagree about the emphasis being made on the parents at this stage. I respect your right to have an alternative opinion and I respect the fact that you have put over your views in a respectful manner. As this is essentially a discussion forum, it would be pretty dull if we all agreed all of the time but I take the point that this is of course a very sensitive subject which does arouse passions.

Hi Naomi
Thanks for your comments, and yes it would be a boring world if we all agreed on the same thing, hence these discussion boards are great, and if it were about any other subject I would be discussing in a more direct manner I guess!!
Please feel free to carry on discussing, I will just wait until this horror is over before I say anything else.
Thanks again for not ripping into me, I can only think that being a parent to a four year old daughter has made be feel very sorry for the parents on an emotional level and not looking too much into any mistakes they have made as I am too concerne about the child, here I go again, sorry guys.
I'm off to bed and hope for good news tomorrow!

Hi Wendy,
Thanks very much for the email and of course I wouldn't rip into you for having an alternative view and for putting your views over in the considered way you do. In fact my Mum has a similar attitude to you as regards the parents and when I spoke to her on the phone the other day, I knew that she felt I was being too harsh.Like you and everyone else, I really hope there will be some good news soon and the child will be reunited with her family as soon as possible.

I do hope the little girl is alive. But its not looking good, been nearly 5 days now. I can not understand why they left her in the room like that, ok your only 50 meters or so away from her, but you dont lose sight of your child for one second now days. After all thats all it takes. I also heard rather disturbing news on Sky news befrore about British sex offenders in portugal, theres quite a few apparently. And by the way there was no cctv footage either, because theres never been a crime there in 35 years. Safest place in the world was one quote.
