I agree with the fact that the tubes stop running at midnight and for a city the size of London this is pathetic, i know we have the night buses but a lot of people feel threatened hanging around bus stops late at night alough a female friend of mine who drives the night buses in London says she dosnt feel threatened as they are in radio contact with the depot and the buses have cameras and they get very little trouble.

Firstly almost all CO2 increase is due to burning fossil fuels, no other reason.

Second a recent report reported this week said that deforestation has slowed almost to zero since 1990, which is good news.

Twist and turn, but the simple point is: we have to stop using fossil fuels, and quick.

Good news indeed - if true. But it contradicts almost everything I've read in recent years.

So you and your pal Red Ken should take it up with the Americans, the Chinese and the Indians.

Because targeting SUV drivers in The Smoke in order to make a fast buck aint going to save the planet.

I agree Warren.
This forum is becoming the stamping ground for people who air their bigotted rants irrespective of the topic under discussion.
Since when has the Mayor been responsible for policing or immigration policy?
Or am I being "negative" again.....lol

Red Ken is not a card carrying member of the CP, but I still say he is in essence a Communist. He was certainly too far left for Labour for many years, he was even expelled from the party was he not? I find it nauseating that he sucks up to Communist dictators such as Castro, who has murdered thousands of political opponents, and who imprisons homosexuals. Ken must think it's OK for Fidel to do it because Fidel's a Communist, I can't see any other way he could justify Fidel's crimes.

Range Rover, guilty as charged. Usually use the tube or taxi in London tho as I hate the place and the faster I can get in and out the better. The tube is a shithole if you put rats in a cage the way the tube is you would be fucked by the RSPCA. Its full of beggers and theives. We might have to have an office near Hyde Park and I have already said don't bother buying me a desk you won't see me enough to need it. Don't see why anyone should target 4x4 drivers especial RR/LR drivers we pay mad money on fuel 10miles to the gallon on sport mode, a tyre cost more than a set for most normal cars. Insurance is higher which is mad because if someone runs into us our big 4x4 hardly gets damaged.

I agree Phil.

This "pay per mile" road-pricing scheme that's inevitably going to come is being trumpeted as some big new idea "to reduce congestion" (supposedly - it's more like an new, additional form of taxation on the motorist).

But fact is we already have "pay per mile" and have had it for donkey's years - it's called fuel tax.

All that "road pricing" will do is shift congestion from motorways and the major A roads and make matters worse (more accidents, more congestion on the "scenic route", juggernauts carving up the countryside, clogged-up towns).

Of course the government claim that such a scheme would be offset by cuts in fuel tax and road tax, but given the proven track record of politicians of all parties when it comes to lying through their teeth, I think that it would be extremely naive to believe that existing taxes on the motorist will be cut to any meaningful degree to compensate for "road pricing".
