I was listening to the radio the other day and these figures were mentioined, since the congestion charge was introduced traffic in Central London is down by 30% and pollution has dropped by 20% if these figures are anything to go by it just proves that this goverment needs to do more to get people to use public transport, i dont believe a green tax is the way to do it as this will hit the poor and the rich will just carry on polluting the atmosphere, if you want your voice to be heard then join the Naked Bike Ride next year you dont have to be naked and Red Ken the Mayor of London gives us his full support, its a peacefull but noisy protest and has police approval the ride passes right through Central London and past the Houses of Parliament it goes at a steady pace as its not a race so you dont need to be super fit you can also do it on skates, so see you there next year !thumbsup!

Exactly Mike. It would have taken nature 60,000 years to heat up the Earth to the point we have in 150 years. 60,000 years gives species of animals/plants/algae/fungus/bacteria chance to adapt to a changing climate. 150 years isn't enough time and whole species will be wiped out...............species that are part of the same food chain we live on.

Even if heat, flood or drought isn't danger enough, disturbing the food chain to such an extent may just starve us all to death in the end anyway.

I think that if we do not act now time will run out to stop a World climate shift.
Its not good enough for the UK just to stand out here, its the whole planet including the industry whore USA who would rather industry and low taxes (to win elections) come first.
We are all just guests of this planet and if you break something you should be bound to put it right.
If the Greenland ice shelf collapses into the ocean (which is predicted) we are looking at a 23ft rise in sea levels! If that is not shocking I don't know what is!

Maybe this Goverment has finally realised the mistakes we are making and its time to put it right before its too late?

And if that means taxing more i'm one who is all for it if that is where the money is going.

All good in principle, but very naive.
It's not the individual on their own that is affecting the eco-system, it's the massive global corporations and they, ore often than not, are "directed" by politicians and other power-greedy immoral bastards.
The world is ecomony is based on manufature and consumation. everything hinges on this and I'm afriad to say the real answer lies in promoting a decline in population and general consuming - this is never going to happen, and whilst the truth is substituted with lies, guilt-tripping and exagerations then I will feel nothing but dismay and anger at peoples gullibility.
The Earth, like the UK ecomony, cannot sustain constant boom and growth and until the masses realise this there will be no real answers just lies.
Short journies being made by foot/bike instead of car should be a matter of common sense, that common sense has been phased out is the fault of the political hypocrites people should not need telling!
