Thanks all, great mass debate. Chatterjis comments pretty much some the whole situation up- watching the protests yesterday in London(although it really wound me up) makes you glad you live in a country that allows this to go on, without being shot or locked up for the rest of your natural..

And if you watched the news tonight, you'd have seen Muslims accusing those people of hijacking their religion and claiming to speak for the majority.

Listen, please. Assuming that the protesters in London are representative of those who follow Islam is like saying the Rev Ian Paisley is the voice of Christianity. The extremes belong to the fringes, not the centre.

QUOTE:Just a pity it's about the worst country in Europe to be white (and maybe Christian).

well said mate.i dont know any country where the majority (white christian) of the population are dictated to by the minority (coloured moslem) population.this more then ever is showing that the great multicultural experiment isnt working.minorities always get away with this because if the police steam in they are called RACIST.the great bogey word of our times.politicians and police chiefs are falling over themselves to prove their politically correct credentials where they show understanding and sensitivitey towards different cultures and embrace diversity instead of having the guts to stand up and say these muslims are cunts and they should be deported even if they were born here back to whatever uncivilized shithole their families originated from.

I agree with you Caractacus but the authorities must expect a right-wing backlash if they don't deal with those extreme protesters in the same way they would with many others.

Crikey!Being offended by cartoons is one thing then threatening us in retaliation with beheadings and a 9/11 is a tad overboard...

What do you mean anti-abortionists and BNP protestors wouldnt be allowed to get away with it!? They did. Thats the price for freedom of speech like I said before...

You can be sure that if we do have our 9/11 a whole load of muslims will be coming with us. Do you think everyone that died in WTC were all christians and jews? That incident touched a lot of people around the world. I would suggest muslims remember that when they commit their atrocities and remember that if they believe in hell, the door will open for them first for their crimes against innocent people who did not draw the cartoons and nor probably laughed at it (like me).

No doubt their emotions are running at fever pitch like some people here and not keeping focus that this whole silly incident is not worth chucking a brick through a window for.

They (offended parties and muslims) should just accept a profuse apology, have a coke and a smile and as Richard Pryor said "Shut the fuck up"

The Muslim spokesman the Beeb spoke to called for the protesters to be arrested. If the posters and placards weren't an incitement to violence and hatred, I don't know what is.

Like it or not, politics and religion and policing are intermingled. The police cannot go easy on some for fear of a religious backlash. Sir Ian Blair and various other high-ranking police are almost politicians themselves these days.
