I'm afraid I've lost my conviction. I did once dream of Brit porn becoming big enough, glamorous enough and fashionable enough to justify one of those big flashy do's where al the guys dress up like James Bond at the Casino Royale and all the girls dolly themselves up and wear fabulous evening gowns. It's since become clear that there's no chance of that happening now. But what the heck, I'll solider on doing a bit here, filming a bit there. My pet project is to organise, script and produce something that would stand up to international scrutiny. It would take a bit of wedge, but not a Private sized budget - just lose the helicopters, pyramids and speed boat chases over Niagara Falls. A bit of thought, a carefully crafted script, carefully selected personnel, and proper artistic postproduction could deliver up something to wipe the smirk of the Private guys faces. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't. We'll just have to wait 'n' see...

All that James Bond stuff is PRECISELY what makes those Private productions so laughable: and they don't seem to have the self-knowledge that we're all pissing ourselves at their efforts ! Their 'plotting' is equally risible, when compared with the likes of Damiano/Payet.....

Watch some of the programs that win awards world wide some are great others are shit. WHY. Buy this years AVN mag for a year add up the advertising pages of the various companies and then divide by the awards to get the answer. Ah - ploughing through this thread we actually come across a new viewpoint - thanks to Sandie for hitting it pretty much on the head. Brit porn is not in freefall decline or in the gutter - but neither is it bursting forward with a lot of new and exciting product. It is basically the same as it ever was, i.e.

1) The best female performers. Full stop. For myself I don't see the trips to the States as a 'talent drain' - rather its top performers stepping up to the 'major leagues'. Good luck to them all I say.

2) A small number of film-makers and photographers producing purely British product. Some are pure gold, others produce rubbish. Twas ever thus and twill ever be so in a country this size.

The interesting point from Sandie is that she echoes comments made on previous threads about an 'amateur' as opposed to 'professional' attitude to much of the sets. For me if the performers enjoy themselves then it makes for good porn - and I'd hate to lose that - but there's perhaps a middle way to be found.

JJ is correct of course about the distribution - short of a lot of money being invested or a drastic increase in the size of the porn-buying audience in the UK there won't be a great leap forward in this country. Instead it'll keep moving along at its own serene pace - Britain will contain to produce a small number of quality films and our gorgeous performers will have to keep going Stateside or to Europe to make a decent living.

As for websites (mentioned elsewhere) - if it helps the performers make a little extra money (and for single-girl sites that's all its likely to be) then mor power to them and I'm happy to dust the old credit card off for them occassionally...

Frankly the Private boys have their heads stuck so far up their own fundamentals that I'm surprised anyone could hear them if they were laughing...personally I can't remember the last time they produced anything worth watching...
