Re: Online Certs
All said and done Clinic Express but its a shame you didnt clue the producers association in on this before our November 27th party. We could have put the word out better then.
If it means anything we have shown our collective support on the front end of the producers forum and on twitter. So the word, along with this forum is out there.
Fingers crossed for you that this is a mainstay as this side of the business has been messy for a long time and there are a couple names making a complete mockery of the tests who should know better than organising parties with tested models and random untested males doing oral without cim and penetrative sex and yet comlain when performers should be divisive with regards this.
Free tests are a bane to the industry in general i think.
The porn industry is a very wild animal that is tough to tame thats for sure.

Your in this business to make money, nothing else.
In my view any company that feels fit to sell home testing kits for STD's is not fit to run this scheme.

I think we're loosing track of the topic here.
But whats wrong with home testing kits? What one person sees as moral to sell another might not.

Re: Online Certs
the fact remains that outside London and Bristol private clinics charge upwards of ?250 for certs- and most of that is lab fees- so that won't change.
maybe once you actually do the deal with the nhs people might be interested- but it would have to be with every single pct. They don't even let each other access their systems without a letter from God's grandad! Good luck with that.
I personally travel across 2 pcts to get mine done so that nothing shows up on my own areas systems.
And back to something else you mentioned in a thread... I wouldn't dream of turning up with a fax/pdf/or photocopy.. and I wouldn't be happy if anyone else did.
This also doesn't take into account private collectors, etc. only the ones in your gang.
And I can't see the charities commission accepting a submission from the porn industry.
I don't mean to come accross as negative- but you are doing this as a profit exercise forcing people to use your clinics and tough s**t to anyone who lives outside any of those areas

Much more than a handful but never a waste.

Its a good scheme but the only obstacle is the price, for popular producers & models its fair but for the 100's of amateur actresses who only do a couple of shoots a month they will still use the NHS clinics that are a fraction of the price.
Fetch your prices in line with the NHS & you will get lots of people using your services, we used to sell films for a price we thought they were worth & sold a few...we then sold them at half price & made a lot more profit as we sold 3 times the amount.
You need to catch all the market otherwise its back to square one, saying this what you have set up is a great start to a safer work enviroment but don't spoil it being greedy.

it is a good idea- especially if they put their prices in line with the nhs- but london and bristol is out of reach for too many people. it would take me a day to get there- that's not taking into account the travel costs.
It's a good idea in theory- but not practical with their current set up.
Even if they roll it england wide- what happens in scotland?

Re: Online Certs
Kim,
When we charge ?125 for adult fim star certs, they cost us between ?70 and ? 160 (if any result comes back positive) so im afraid we cant do anything on the price of the tests.
The HPA (the govenment lab) charges each PCT between ?50 and ?170 for what you get for free.... Well you pay tax, so its not free. But thats how the NHS works.
Regarding the ball park figure of ? 150 for annual membership to the Online Certifcation Scheme, that works out ? 12.50p per month. It will be up to you all to decide if its worth it.
Thanks

Price of tests and registration.
FWIW I know a little about the price structure of tests and neither Express Clinic nor Regents Park can be accused of profiteering - remember that there are third party lab costs.
The NHS is highly subsidised, and even if you pay, you are not paying the true cost of tests.
I do like the idea of the online certs and while I did have a couple of questions, those have been answered within this thread - that will probably amaze OEJ
What I think would make sense is that the main producers / distributors agree to offer some funding.
My guess is that the economics of this are largely in the set up and regular costs are pretty much fixed, though I have no idea as to the numbers. However if I am right, then the producers agreeing to sponsor to the tune of between a couple hundred - semi pros - to a few K - TVX? Harmony? Playboy? would allow the cost to be reduced for models, to say a ?5-?10 per test charge.

Hi Paul you wrote:

Yep again, tried that and thats in the same audio file and even got into a row with a noted company who offered to provide funding but flaked on us and accused us of "pissing in the wind". So not enough takers there that had me thinking no one really cares about doing anything and expect it to just happen by itself.

Yep we thought of this last year too and a lot of those who were in support of the change suddenly had holidays, jobs to attend to on the day of a meeting that was organised 2 months before.
Lets just say it for what it is peeps. It seems abundantly clear that the majority of the adult industry expect this for free. Lets not accuse them of just doing it for profit because as far as I can see everyone expects this to as if the NHS are doing us a favour. ?125 is very reasonable per month if you are earning in excess of ?500 per week/ 2k per month
